Kansas is being recognized across the nation for its research. K-State will soon acheive its goal of becoming one of the top 50 research universities in the nation. The National Bio Agri-Defense Facility (NBAF) being located in Manhattan, is attracting small research companies with new high paying jobs that keep our graduates working in Kansas.
Kansas has been ranked as a top place for doing business by more than 6 business ranking journals and associations for doing business. In August we were ranked number 1 of the 7 top business friendly states. These ratings have occured based on our current tax structure.We need to continue to keep Kansas strong while maintaining a budget that protects against runaway spending and enhances the future of jobs, education and the people of Kansas.
The current tax structure of Kansas is attractive to businesses as noted in Forbes Magazine which has just elevated Kansas from 15th to 10th "On the Best States for Business" list. This is no accident but is a result of cooperation between the people of Kansas, its businesses, and its government.
